Rockit Server Model 1 Standard

£795.00

Overview

This is our basic server model connecting to your boats NMEA bus via Wi-Fi only to collect NMEA 0183 or 2000 data.

The data collected can then be uploaded to our Rockit Cloud Analytics Platform when a platform subscription is in place.

Case

Lightweight black plastic case.

Our build on demand model uses a 3D printing technology to create cases that utilise PA12 Nylon; so they lightweight and relatively robust.  The 3D Printed cases are varpour smoothed to create a case that is we think athletically pleasing.  The standard case is dyed black. We are able to print in other colours on demand. So if you want a shocking pink case get in touch.

We add a metal frame/stand for attachment … though all our test units have ended up stuck to bulk heads with Velcro….. we will put a Velcro strip in the box.

Operating System

Our devices are built using Raspberry Pi boards.  The device Rockit Server comes with the following operating system installed;

  • 64bit Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm).
  • The device runs a GNOME desktop on the X11  windows system.

The operating system is open, users have admin privileges, so you can add your own software or reconfigure the operating system if you want something different.  Obviously we can’t provide a warranty for the device if the operating system is changed,

Display

The server comes with a touchscreen display so you can control basic software functions without needing to touch a keyboard or mouse.

  • 7-inch Touchscreen Display
  • Screen Dimensions: 194mm x 110mm
  • Viewable screen size: 155mm x 86mm
  • Screen Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
  • 10 finger capacitive touch.

CPU and Memory

We are able to build devices to a number of specifications using Raspberry Pi 4B circuit boards.

  • Rockit Server Model 1 comes with a 1.5GHz 64-bit quad-core CPU with 4GByte RAM.
  • The device has 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0.

Storage Capacity

Base model has a 32 GByte Micro SD Card Memory internally.

The cases are sealed to keep the water out so the SD card is not user accessible

Ports

This version of the Rockit Server does not have an externally accessible USB sockets.

The internal USB 3.0 ports are occupied by the Logitech Unifying Receiver and a second WIFI Receiver that creates a Wireless Hot Spot on the device.

The Rockit Server Model 1 has two free USB 2.0 sockets internally so on request we can add additional devices at the build stage, subject to us being able to accommodate the USB device within the case.

Power Requirement

The devices requires a 12-volt DC connection on the boat and will take up to a 3AMP load.  The units are supplied with two means of powering.  We supply the units with power cables terminated with Bulgin IP68 connectors. That in turn can either be connected to a standard mains power adapter12V DC or the boats 12V DC supply using the drop cable supplied with the device.

Pointing Device

For those of us with bad eyesight and fat fingers we added a Logitech Trackball Mouse to the device.  This connects to the Logitech Bluetooth Unifying receiver installed internally within the case which can support additional Logitech devices in addition to the Trackball Mouse.

Connection To NMEA

  • The Rockit Server Model 1 connects to the NMEA 2000 network on the boat via Wifi.
    With this device we currently support the following connections;
    Actisense N2K – Wifi – NMEA 2000 and 0183

Marine Standards Applied

  • Self certified to IP 65; IP65 rating means that the enclosure can only provide protection against low pressure (6.3mm) water jets. Protected from total dust ingress. Protected from low-pressure water jets from any direction.
  • Self certified EMC Tested to EN 60945. We have been to the lab and tested the units so we believe they will comply with EN 60945
  • Data collected from NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183
